After attaining the #1 ranking in the Southeast Region the Miami Club Hockey Team has hit their first losing streak of the season. Miami used a solid team effort to start the series vs. Grand Valley State with a 5-2 win. However, the Lakers effectively bounced back and out worked and out played Miami to a 7-3 score. The road did not get any easier for Miami as they looked to bounce back against Div. II back-to-back National Champion Davenport Panthers. Friday nights game was a back and forth affair as it was tied 2-2 going into the 3rd period. However, a couple costly turnovers were the difference as Davenport capitalized and finished the game 5-2. Saturday's game was not much better. The Redhawks were down by the score of 4-0 5min into the game and 5-1 at the end of the 1st period and that was just about all Davenport needed. Even though the Redhawks battled back to a score of 6-4 at the end of the 2nd period again a couple costly turnovers costed the Redhawks any chance of a comeback as they lost 8-4.
